Located between the small market towns of Tavistock and Okehampton, Bearslake Inn is one of the best gastro pubs on Dartmoor from which to explore the delights of the local Moors and Tors of the National Park. As a 13th-century Dartmoor Inn, we're a sanctuary of rest for weary travellers, with six spacious en-suite rooms (four of which are dog-friendly), a restaurant serving pub classics, and a beautiful spacious garden with stunning views over Sourton Tor. Just two miles south of the A30 and the border between Devon and Cornwall, we're an easy-to-reach gastro pub and yet set amidst glorious remote walking countryside on Dartmoor.

The magnificent Sourton Tor, Corn Ridge, and Great Links Tor are all accessible by foot, with the Granite Way cycle path running directly behind our Dartmoor Inn. As one of the best gastro pubs on Dartmoor, we pride ourselves on offering an exceptional experience. Our chefs specialise in local produce, and lucky for us, the West Country is blessed with wonderful supplies of meat, fish, and vegetables, alongside a host of small artisan producers of cheese, ice cream, and smoked products.

Whenever possible, we source directly from the best farmers, fishermen, or growers to ensure top-quality ingredients. Our shopping criteria are simple yet uncompromising: the best quality and locally produced (if not local, then Devon). Whether you’re looking for a warm gastro pub atmosphere or a delightful pub restaurant experience, we aim to provide the perfect spot for every occasion.

Eat

As one of the best gastro pubs on Dartmoor, pub classics and whole hearty food is created with passion and great pride here. We're blessed with wonderful local suppliers including a host of small artisan producers of cheeses, ice cream and smoked products. Food is served throughout our cosy pub and in the restaurant area. When the weather permits, we also serve outside in our garden by the relaxing, babbling stream, with views over Dartmoor.

Drink

Our bar is set in the oldest part of our 13th Century thatched Dartmoor Inn serving guest ales each week, some of the finest West Country gins, local spirits and fine whiskys. Curated by local wine merchants, our wine list showcases great world wines with mixers and soft drinks sourced solely from Devon.

Stay

We have six, large, individually designed rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms in our 13th century Dartmoor Inn. Every room contains a comfortable King-size bed and three of our six rooms are family rooms with additional beds suitable for larger parties & families. Four, dog-friendly rooms also have easy access to our large pub garden.

"..the pub and rooms is absolutely lovely, firstly rooms super clean very spacious comfy bed. We stayed in the family room. If you are with a family this is such a spacious room bathroom is great; hot shower and a lovely bath, view from your room is also great. The pub, the staff owners are super friendly and make all of you welcome, the pub inside is really traditional open fires again you cannot fault this pub."
